Indiana War Memorial

Indianapolis showcases an array of architectural peices that pay homage to the sacrifices of veterans on a scale of grandure second only to Washington D.C.(at least thats what indy.gov says) Just this structure alone is enough to blog about for at least two weeks. This particular style of architecture can be described in one word. Allegory. In the case of a work that is to display the valor and courage of the individuals who faught and died for this country, it is indeed sufficient to erect and edifice that tells a story and portrays concepts that can only be conveyed through a use of mythical characters like the ones used all over this work. If you pay attention the structure has six ionic columns. In times past the number 6 has come to convey perfection. But the story doesn't stop there. If one examines the figures on top of the entablature of the six columns, they are representative of six virtues so to speak. These virtues are patriotism, liberty, peace, courage, victory, and memory. this is very appropriate as these are qualities that are not only reserved for the soldiers but also qualities that he architect may be hoping to inspire in all that experience this structure. Below I have compiles pictures of these six mythical characters.

Hermes Helicopter

It has been called a living room on wheels. The project commissioned by yours truly the century and a half year old fashion house of Hermes. The interior of this Eurocopter EC 135 helicopter is literally bathed from nose to rear in calf skin leather. It is big enough to comfortably fit five people plus the pilot. Although it is a ultra luxury dream it does not come off as overly luxurious. We are spared such features such as tacky gold overlay or ridiculous displays of sparkly ornamentation. Everything seems portray a sense of quiet comfort while still managing to be worthy of the title Haute Couture or "high fashion".

Mac keyboard 8/2/2009

I'm sitting in class listening to the professor's assistant explain how to create this blog. As I'm typing I can't help but feel like I am using a keyboard that was accidentally warped from the year 2036! The simplicity of the ultra chic titanium design sort of floats on the desk like a Lily pad in a pond. It makes me feel like it may be accompanied by sort of digital glove set that enhances the average typing speed buy 40% or something. Besides that fact that it has a superb design the functionality is actually good. Its actually too good. When I go back to typing on a regular keyboard my fingers have to adjust to using more effort when keying. The keyboard actually works to well. I find myself miss keying words very often because of how short the keys are. Its like my finger's don't want to break out of the prison of mediocre functionality. I guess I'll just have to hang in there and see if I can get used to its superior design!
